Faro é a capital do distrito de Faro, hoje em dia Faro é uma cidade moderna e agradável, com um estilo de vida muito particular, um centro histórico bem preservado e uma vida noturna bem animada que atrai muitos turistas ao longo de todo o ano.

Faro is the capitaly city of Faro district. Nowadays Faro is a modern  and realy nice city, it has lifestyle very particular, historical center realy well preseved and a nocturne life realy well cheered up that atracts loads for turists over the year..

Em Faro, podemos visitar locais bastante interessantes... desde praias e locais para passear como jardins e parques a monumentos históricos... é uma cidade muito movida que atrai com facilidade turistas ...

Faro também é conhecida pela convenção de motos que se realiza todos os anos em Julho. Motociclistas de todo o mundo reúnem-se aqui para exibir as suas motas, para se reunirem e para se divertirem muito!

In Faro city we can visit realy interesting places... from beaches and locals to do some walking like gardens and parks to historical monuments... it's a realy moved city that atracts easly tourists...
Faro city is also known for it's motorcycles convention that performs every year in July.
Motorcyclists from all world gather them selfes here to show-off their motorcycles, to join them selfes and to have a lot of fun!

O centro da cidade é uma atractiva zona comercial que conta com milhares de restaurantes e bares que oferecem todo o tipo experiências colinárias... Os melhores restaurantes (e mais caros) ficam junto à Rua de S. Domingo, mais longe existem outros sítios onde podemos comer mais barato, mas a animação e qualidade provavelmente não é a mesma, a cozinha é à base dos sabores do mar, como é de se esperar, destacando-se o arroz de marisco.

The central city is a realy atractive comercial zone that counts with thousands of restaurants and bars that offer all the kind of gastronomic experiences... The best restaurants (and most expensive) are close from "Rua de S. Domingo" street, farther away there's also another places where we can eat cheaper but that animation and qualtity might just not be the same, the kitchen is based on seafood as you probably would expect being the highlight dishe shellfish rice.

                                 

Ilhas Faro/Faro Islands

Faro também conta com algumas ilhas onde também se faz praia...  Há a ilha do farol, onde se encontra um farol que ilumina a área, a ilha da Culatra, a ilha de Faro,  e por fim a ilha Deserta...

Faro also counts with some islands where you can do beach... There's "Ilha do farol" island, where there is a huge lighthouse (farol), "ilha da Culatra" island, "ilha de Faro" island and the "ilha Deserta" island...

                                                           Parte velha/Old city part

A parte velha é única parte de Faro que permaneceu "parada" no tempo e que sobreviveu aos saques e  ao terramoto. É uma parte da antiga cidade, com ruas da época e antigos muros pintados. A entrada é pelo Arco da Vila, junto ao posto de turismo. Por trás fica a Rua do Município e o Largo da Sé, onde se encontrara a catedral e alguns palácios.

The old city part is the unique part of Faro that remained "stoped" in time and that survived to the ancient attacks and the earthquake. It's a old part of the city with streets and walls from another time. The entrance is at "Arco da Vila" close to the tourism point. Behind the "Rua do Município e o Largo da Sé" street where there's the cathedral and some palaces.

Feira de Santa Iria / Santa iria fair

A Feira de Santa Iria é a maior festa de Faro, celebrada em Outubro dura uma semana e decorre no Largo de São Francisco. A feira de Santa Iria conta com muita música e divertimentos. Na sua vertente religioso é realizada uma procissão em honra de Santa Iria.

The Santa iria fair is the biggest Faro fair, celebrated in October it lasts one week and it follows in Largo de São Francisco. The Santa Iria fair counts with lots of music and entretainments. In it's religious aspect it's realized a procession in honor of Santa Iria.
